My poor poor body!!!! Aaaargh!! How it hurts! Yes, ladies and gentlemen! By those groans of pain, you can very well guess that I have exercised. And I am paying for it right now, after stepping on an exercise machine after soooooooooo many months of not doing anything! Sigh!
I stepped on a treadmill for 25 minutes, doing the Couch to 5k program (trying!). I did a 5-minute slow warm up walk until Japa came in midway and asked why in heaven's name was I walking oh-so-slowly! Hehehehe. So I sped up to a brisk walk for the remainder of my warm up. Then it was 60 seconds jogging, and 90 seconds brisk walking. My treadmill speed was 5kph for walking and 6.5kph for jogging.
Not bad at all, except of course I was sucking wind. Ugh.
I knew better than to flop on the bed and sleep after jogging. I was actually quite GOOD and did some yoga for stretching after the treadmill. So YAY me! :)
Now I need a shower in a major way, and am off to bed!

Resolve to Exercise
Uh....yeah. I did say the word resolve, right? Meaning, there honestly are good intentions involved. I have been resolving to exercise, for starters. Yes, I consider yoga exercise. And I've been home close to 3 months and I have NOT started doing yoga again! I'm using NOT being at our own house an excuse right now, hehehe. *roll eyes with exasperation*
Over some meal a few days ago, my sisters and I were discussing ways to lose weight. We have 2 weddings next year and I know I'm not the only one feeling the pressure! We talked about gastric bypasses and cold wraps....but I'm thinking that liposuction is still the fastest way to get this body contoured. Uh-huh. Contoured. And I like the customized process of lipo and tummy tucks, too. No "standardized" thing, but doctors taking your actual measurements. Very professional for sure, plus no chance of the situations I read about where globs of fat deposits are taken out of a body part but then the whole look isn't distributed evenly. Nightmarish.
I know that ideally, I have to lose weight before even thinking of getting any of these procedures done, which is where the resolve to exercise comes in. I think aside from yoga, I'm going to try and do the Couch to 5k Program again. I know I started on this a few months ago, and I did do ONE week of the program, hehehe. Then my back hurt because of all the pounding it was taking from the running. So I stopped.
I've been reading how people have been doing with the Couch to 5K though, and I think my back is a lot better now. So maybe I'll give it another go.
And hey, I like to think ahead. I know that WHEN I lose weight, everything starts to sag. Yes, including the upper body. And you start to lose the fat deposits in the chest area. This is where some breast augmentation starts to come in. I just read that this procedure does not necessarily have to increase your bra size. It is used a lot of times to LIFT the breasts. Ahhhhh!!!! Do I see the lights turning on now? Hehehehe. Good thing to learn, eh?
Off to look for that Couch-5k Program again. And I'll post it here for easy access. Maybe if I see it everyday, I'll be more motivated. This should be a good start to the month eh?

Hong Kong: All Girls Only
Yes, yet another Hong Kong trip....but this time it was just all girls: Mom, Tita Belen, Bang, Elizza and me. And yes, we HAD to schedule a trip that was going to be filled with eating, eating, and more eating right before the wedding, didn't we? Hehehehe.
And that was all that we did, really. Eat, eat, eat. It is DANGEROUS to have Bang in charge of the food, I swear. She will schedule ALL three meals and they won't be fast food kind of eating either. It's a must-be-sitting dining experience! Hahahaha! I give her a hard time about it, but the truth of the matter is, we wouldn't be able to try all sorts of food if it weren't for Bang, our food connosieur (sp?).
So here's a recap of our mainly eating-and-shopping trip to Hong Kong:
June 15
We take the first flight out of Manila, even Mom! I guess it's easier without Dad tagging along; we can move much faster and we can do the early flights no prob! :)
We arrive in Hong Kong, take the Airport Express to the Kowloon side and then board the bus to go to the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel. Mom and Tita B get down at one of the stops so that it would be closer to this shop where Tita B can have her Rolex watch cleaned.
And we have this NIGHTMARISH, stupid bus driver who totally misses our stop!!! Aaargh!!! And so we start yelling and say hello, you've missed our hotel! So he turns the bus around not once or twice around the SAME block, but THREE times!! What an IDIOT!!! To make matters worse, he stops the bus a good 50 meters AWAY from the entrance of the hotel, ACROSS the street!!! Then he tells us to go down! Elizza and Bang look at each other and then look at me. I tell the bus driver in my sungit, loud voice: "NO! We have 5 bags and there are 3 of us, we can't possibly drag all those bags across the street. Take us to our hotel." I refused to say please because I was super duper pissed by this time.
So the driver drives his bus some 10 meters away and stops. He turns to us and says, "wait for the next trip." Uhmmm HELLO!!!!! What an IMBECILE!!! I say in a LOUDER voice, "NO! We paid our fare, now take us to our hotel NOW!" So the idiotic driver makes a show of looking at his watch and shaking his head...all of which obviously UNMOVE me, and he stops right in front of our hotel!
I mean, REALLY! If he had done this in the FIRST place instead of going around the block several times, he would still be on time for his route! Sheesh! What an IDIOT!
***
We were of course pretty famished at this point and we all searched for the nearest restaurant. Bang led us to the Chinese Kitchen, some noodle house, where our dear Mother actually sat on a STOOL in a restaurant! Hahahaha! I wish I had pics of her now, but they're still with Lai who was the only one who brought a small camera :) The food was good, and if you love sweet and sour pork, this is THE place to get it! So Dic, pay heed! :) It's right opposite the Marco Polo Hotels, so it's hard to miss.
***
And we shopped. We went to Granville and Ocean Terminal. Because lunch was at 1 or 2 pm AND we still had afternoon tea at about 4 pm, we jokingly said that dinner was going to be at 10 pm, much to Bang's horror, hehehe. And we shopped. And shopped. And shopped. I even bought a new laptop case (roller bag) AND a new suitcase because it was such a great deal! :) Dinner? We had it at Spring Deer at a little bit past 10 pm, hehehe. And Bang survived *wink*.
June 16
We get up early so that we would make the early buses to Stanley Market. Again, for the first time that we can remember, our dear Mother rode the bus all the way to Stanley Market, a good hour away, hehehe.
What Granville was before with all its export overruns and brand names, it was Stanley Market again. AND, the best part was, because it catered to expats, I had sizes! Glorious array of sizes! Hehehe.
We didn't have any breakfast, but Bang was prepared: she had set aside a whole roll of Ritz crackers with cheese in her purse. She brought this out and we pretty much inhaled everything, downed with some bottled water from Watson's.
And we shopped. And shopped. Then we had lunch over at this Italian restaurant by the bayside. It was simply delish, and had portions big enough to satisfy me (and Bang, hehehe).
And we shopped. And shopped. Until our arms couldn't hold any more shopping bags. With much sadness (LOL!) we left Stanley Market aboard a taxi. We figured we'd get to the hotel faster and that our shopping bags were safer in the trunk of a cab rather than the aisles of a bus!
So we took our trunk-ful of shopping bags, had the porter bring them up to our rooms (again, Lai has a pic of this, hehehe) and we segragated everything. Lai and Bang went to Mongkok while Mom, Tita B and I went to Ocean Terminal.
And we shopped. And shopped. Anyone see the pattern here yet? Hehehehe. We had dinner at about 9 pm I think; it was in a seafood restaurant in Ocean Terminal, so it was nice and near. After another delish dinner complete with a carafe of orange juice, we shopped again while walking back to the hotel! Hehehehe. I told you this was a tale of shopping and eating!
We pretty much closed Ocean Terminal. When we got back to our room, we frenziedly started packing. One thing of note here: Mom did NOT have a suitcase when she went to Hong Kong; she and Tita B shared ONE suitcase. However, after ALL the shopping we just did, she had filled her brand new suitcase to its seams! Hahhahaha! And for the life of us (Mom and me), we couldn't figure out what she bought that would fill up a whole suitcase!
I am proud to report that I managed to squeeze in a double session of YOGA whilst in Hong Kong! I definitely needed to, with all the eating we did!
June 17
We went to mass at 845 am at Rosary Church on Chatham Road. The church was filled with Filipinas, and the walls resounded with the loud singing :). The priest was another story, though. His voice just droned on and on and on; no matter how hard I tried, I could NOT stay awake during the homily!
After mass, we took a taxi back to the hotel. We asked the concierge where a nice restaurant was that served breakfast dimsum. This was where Bang was going to bring us that first day, but she thought it was closed for renovation.
So we walked the couple of blocks to the restaurant and went on up to the 3rd level. The place was full, being that it was Father's Day, but we managed to get a table for us. And we ate. And ate. And ate. Dimsum platters kept coming to our table and in the end, Mom ate a WHOPPING FOUR siopaos and Bang had three. The people next to our table kept looking at us and wondering how and why we could eat so much! Hahahaha! This was our cheapest meal, too! :) Sorry, forgot the name, but Bang should know.
***
We did some last minute shopping before returning to the hotel where we checked out at 1 pm. We went to the In-Town Check In Center and then took the Airport Express to the airport. Where we shopped at the Disney Store. I got the kids some cute little pens and some chocolate at the Duty Free Stores.
We went up to the Lounge where we ate some more, hehehe. I mean, what else could you do if you had some 3 hours to spare before boarding time?!!?
***
Back in Manila
We finally arrive in Manila and we go straight to Masas, a Filipino fusion restaurant in Greenbelt, Makati. Pretty good food...but I ordered from their Spanish sister restaurant, Cena. Yes, we ate some more! The rest of the family met up there to break bread together to celebrate Father's Day.

And THAT, in a nutshell, was our all-girls' trip to Hong Kong.

Just An Ordinary Day.....
Just an ordinary day, doing some stuff for the wedding. We took the girls to the Marikina Shoe Expo to have ourselves outfitted for shoes for the wedding to match our gowns. Next door was a shoe store for boys and I went in to buy a pair of black leather shoes for Ranger; he had already outgrown the ones he wore to Val and Ram's wedding. Can you believe that his teensy weensy shoes cost the SAME amount as mine?!?!?! And mine are custom-made!!! Sheesh!!! P950 for a pair! Hayayayayay!
Just an ordinary day, having lunch with the kids and Randy and Stella. Practically a hole-in-the-wall, not noticeable place in Marikina Shoe Expo was Bellini's, an authentic Italian restaurant. Japa says that the guy who owns and runs and cooks for the place is an Italian photographer who was here during the Edsa Revolution in 1986. Apparently, he loved it here so much, he never left! He married a Filipina and set up his restaurant. It was soooo good and so authentic! Yum yum yum! Price-wise, it wasn't cheap, but it wasn't prohibitively expensive either. We just ordered a tad bit too much, which was what upped the price, hehehe. Thank you to Randy for lunch! :)
Just an ordinary day, swimming with the kids in the afternoon. What WASN'T ordinary was that I am just dead-tired right now from racing with them! It was all the kids plus Randy, Stella, Japa and myself. And can I say OMG----the kids were just incredibly FAST! Sheesh! My body is paying the price right now for me attempting to TRICK this damn old (no one mention fat!!!!) body into thinking it was still in its peak when I was in my 20s!!! Hahahahahahaha!
Lessons we learned from swimming and racing with the kids:
1. I should never let Rogan get a headstart, no matter how slight, when racing him as anchor for our relay.
2. Never ever let Japa race doing the backstroke. He was holding on to a kickboard and using just his legs. Raine annihilated him.
3. Always let the kids think you're slow in a particular stroke so as to surprise them with your "prowess". :)
4. Always have Rogan as a substitute....just in case our poor bodies couldn't take any more racing.
5. Try and race in a shorter pool---we adults have more chances of beating the kids in a race!
6. Never agree to doing 2 consecutive laps in a 25-meter pool. Although the adults won, we could easily have had a damn heart attack after the race!
7. Let the kids just win and get it over with....they'll end up winning anyway!
Dinner at ayala, and then back home where I squeezed in some much needed yoga to stretch my long-unused muscles! Too tired to go to the hospital, so no Tita San update for today.
Ok, I'm pooped. Too exhausted to even scrap I think!

2 Down, 8 to Go....
in my 10-week yoga schedule, that is. I am SO psyched that I have completed 2 whole weeks!!! Yeah! And yes, my back is reaping the benefits of all that stretching and twisting :) Whoohoohoo! I feel stronger, more stable when I stand and walk, and I have this overall feeling of wellness, you know? :)
Now, since I'm feeling healthy, the next logistical step is to take a look at my diet, yes? Sigh! It has to come down to this, really, if I want to lose that extra poundage. Another sigh! For the record, I detest dieting! The last diet I went on, I got sick. As in REALLY sick. For about 5 days. Granted, it was a semi-crash diet, but still! :)
Dieting, with all that calorie counting! Ugh! The endless lists of what I ate, how many calories total; what I burned (as if I exercise that much--I don't!), and how many calories burned. Too time consuming! Luckily, there is such a thing as a calorie counter --- this website where I can input what I ate and boom! I have my totals for the meal, or for the day! Pretty cool, huh? Takes out ALL the work of looking through pages and pages of calorie counting books! There's also a dieting journal where you can keep track of meals and exercise you've done. All on the computer! But I still say that the BEST feature is the free calorie counter. Nothing beats free, and it is SOOO easy to use!
Let's see if I can add dieting to my yoga regimen......stay tuned! :)

And yes, I wrote that! :) Love those pics from Mother's Day this year. Except the one where we are all together (taken via Japa's camera timer), all the other pics were taken by the kids.
{YOGA}
Can I just say that I have been quite diligent in doing Yoga the past week and a half?!?!? I am proud of myself! This Sunday will finish up the SECOND week of yoga everyday. Following a book, instead of paying P800 per session twice a week. :) An awesome investment for the book, if you ask me. I did buy a clear book just so I can insert the pages (which I cut up!) into the clear covers for easier flipping through the pages.
I like this book (need to find a site that has a pic of it so I can post it) because it gives me a daily schedule to follow. It is arranged from the easier poses to the more difficult ones.
And yesterday was a HUGE day for me. I did this pose were I support my entire body on my neck and shoulders (not as painful as I'm describing here, hehehe) for a FULL minute!!! Whoohoohoo!!! So GO me! :) And yes, my back has gotten stronger again.....and I can sleep better at night! :)
{FLAGS}
Independence day is nearing for us here in the Philippines. The date itself is June 12. But our stupid President moved this holiday YET AGAIN because it happened to fall on a Tuesday!!! I mean, SO WHAT?!?!? How in heaven's name will we, as a people, feel patriotic when all we care about is how some holiday disrupts the work week....and that we can get an extended weekend because the "holiday" will now be on a Monday?!?!? Sheesh! Of all things to move, it's Independence Day!!!!
Anyway, I've been seeing a lot of flags waving around the streets. A good thing to show our patriotic spirit. I would love to see our country celebrate this holiday the way the States do: American Flags waving from each and every house, school and office building. I've also seen some people erect their own Outdoor Flag Poles to proudly wave the red, white and blue.
There are several online stores that sell US Flags, too! Online! Love how the site is divided into what kind of flag you want to buy: for the car, for decoration, for the flagpole. There are also cool pins to choose from, and not just USA stuff either. They carry flags from different countries, and yes, including the Philippines! How cool is that! :) I love shopping and looking through sites that carry a product that has "designs", i.e., flag designs, from other countries as well, especially the Philippines. Wouldn't that be ironic, though, to buy a Philippine flag overseas? :)
I try and teach my kids the importance of loving one's country. Sometimes it's hard to do with all the colonial mentality going around here, but I want the kids to know about their country and its history. Little by little, we're making progress. Thank goodness the school does its part in promoting love of country too!

And yes, I wrote that! :) Love those pics from Mother's Day this year. Except the one where we are all together (taken via Japa's camera timer), all the other pics were taken by the kids.

Just Waiting...
....for Mario and Nap to announce who won the Photo Contest for the Shrine. Boydee did come home late tonight to say that "unofficially.....Photographer #4 won" is what Mario said. Well, PHOOOEEY! That's not MY number! I'm Photographer #3!!!! Hmp!
From a process of elimination, Gelo is Photographer #4, so Congrats to him. I guess. Hhehehe. That's the sore lose in me :) But I do want to lodge a protest (at least on MY blog). My entries have been SABOTAGED!!!! Japa and Boydee have "subtly" mentioned to Mario (yeah, right!) that manipulated photos shouldn't be counted! Grrrr!!!!! That's my protest!!!!!
{SISTERHOOD}
We had some quality time today. We met at Bo's Coffee to just talk and have fun over coffee and dessert....which is why I'm still up at 130 am!!! hehehe. I just KNEW this was going to happen! Anyhoo, we just talked about whatever, but mainly spent a good hour or so just laughing it up and discussing schtuff :) It was good to squeeze in this time before Stella leaves for the States on Thursday.
{YOGA}
We had fun today. For the first time, Rondic joined us for yoga and he was a great source of entertainment for us. He was far from flexible for some poses and it was just funny to see him squishing his face while concentrating on the poses.
All the kids joined us....we separated them from each other to avoid hearing giggling and whispering....but they did give us more reasons to NOT concentrate during yoga. There were a couple of FARTERS! Hahahahaha! First, when we were doing a side pose with our arm in the air, Raine let out a couple of farts. I swear, I almost fell over from trying to refrain from laughing!
The BEST fart yet, though, went to Reese. We were in the Japanese kneeling position and as Weng called for us to slowly bend forward and let the tops of our heads touch the floor, Reese let out this loooong solid fart! Hahahahahahaha! I could barely breathe enough as it was in that position, but hearing Reese was just too much! Hehehehehe.
Ok, gotta go. No scraps obviously, but am hoping to start scrapping tomorrow!
TTFN!
